Thanks for the reply. I'll bear it in mind when I've sorted a somewhat bigger problem.
I discovered power wasn't getting to the controller so I replaced the fuse only for that one to blow in a cloud of smoke! I've had an engineer out who has diagnosed the transformer being shot. Could be worse - could have been the motor!
Don't know if my cleaning the photocells has had any bearing on the problem or whether it's coincidence. I'll let you know the eventual outcome.
